Welcome to the Fernweh Bag!
Fernweh is intended to be a soft and structured travel bag for cosmetics, bathroom accessories, small electronics, or even sewing tools notions for your next retreat! The pattern utilizes foam as the stabilizer which gives protection to the items inside as you travel. Add the optional piping for an extra bit of contrast and flavor and show off your custom zipper pulls front and center on the bag.

Imperial Requirements
- Exterior Vinyl/Faux Leather/Cork/Cotton - 1/3yrd (from 54” WOF) (For example, a little over half of an 18” x 54” roll)
- Liner Material - 1/2yrd (from 45” WOF)
- Foam - 1/2yrd (from 20” WOF)
- Decovil Heavy/Peltex - 1/8yrd (Scrap)
- Medium Weight Fusible Woven Interfacing like SF101 - 2yrd (from 20” WOF) For a fully Cotton bag: 1yrd SF101 (from 60" WOF) OR 3yrd SF101 (from 20” WOF)
- #5 Zipper - 35” (continuous Zipper Tape), plus 3 Zipper Pulls
- Rivets - x7 (8mm post length). 8mm or 9mm cap size is best
- 24” - Premade Double Fold Bias Tape (1/2” Folded size)
- 33” - Piping Cord (3/32" size is used for this pattern but thicker is ok) - (Optional)
- Double Sided Tape (1/4” wide or less is best), Disappearing marking pen or chalk, Fray Check, Duct Tape, Rivet Installation equipment (press highly recommended)
Metric Requirements
- Exterior Vinyl/Faux Leather/Cork/Cotton - 1/3m (from 137cm WOF) (For example, a little over half of a 46cm x 1m roll)
- Liner Material - 1/2m (from 114” WOF)
- Foam - 1/2m (from 50cm WOF)
- Decovil Heavy/Peltex - 1/8m (Scrap)
- Medium Weight Fusible Woven Interfacing like SF101 - 2m (from 50cm WOF) For a fully Cotton bag: 1m SF101 (from 152cm WOF) OR 3m SF101 (from 50cm WOF)
- #5 Zipper - 89cm (continuous Zipper Tape), plus 3 Zipper Pulls
- Rivets - x7 (8mm post length). 8mm or 9mm cap size is best
- 61cm - Premade Double Fold Bias Tape (12.7mm Folded size)
- 84cm - Piping Cord (2.38mm size is used for this pattern but thicker is ok) - (Optional)
- Double Sided Tape (6mm wide or less is best), Disappearing marking pen or chalk, Fray Check, Duct Tape, Rivet Installation equipment (press highly recommended)
