About the Bag
Hinterland is a mix between a soft, slouchy bag, and a structured bag that stands on its own. It can be carried as a crossbody or a handbag and is the perfect mid range size. The interior has a uniquely constructed divider pocket with two slip pockets and a zipper in the middle. The distinctive shape of the Hinterland allows for a beautifully soft exterior while the bag gains all of its structure from the divider on the inside. The bucket shape of the bag paired with the two separate compartments allows you to hold whatever you may need, and easily find your items inside. Hinterland’s exterior can be made of thin, drapey vinyl, cork or even cotton with specific interfacing instructions inside the pattern to help you achieve the look of the bag no matter what material you choose.

The HinterlandHandbag is a quick and easy cut and sew, with minimal bulk, and the peace of mind that all of Lavender & Twine’s patterns are designed and created on a domestic machine.

- Exterior Vinyl/Faux Leather/Cork/Cotton - 1/2yrd (from 54” WOF)
- Liner Material - 3/4yrd (from 54” WOF)
- Decovil Light - 1/2yrd (from 17” WOF) OR 1/4yrd (from 35” WOF)
- Medium Weight Fusible Woven Interfacing like SF101-enough for all cotton materials. For a fully cotton bag: 1-1/4yrd SF101 (from 60" WOF) OR 4yrd SF101 (from 20” WOF)
- 3/4” D Ring - x2
- 3/4” Swivel Clasp - x2 or x4 if you’re making both the Strap and the Handle
- 3/4” Strap Slider - x1 (for Strap)
- 1” Strap Slider - x1 (must be 1” for Closure Strap)
- 1-1/2” O Ring (optional decorative ring for Closure Strap)
- Magnetic Snap - x3, any size up to 19mm is acceptable
- #5 Zipper, 7” - x1, plus 1 zipper pull
- Rivets - x7 (8mm post length), AND x4 (10mm post length). 8mm or 9mm cap size is best
- Double Sided Tape (1/4” wide or less is best)
- Disappearing marking pen or chalk, Fray Check, Super Glue, Duct Tape
- Rivet Installation equipment (press, or hand tools)

- Medium Weight Fusible Woven Interfacing like SF101-enough for all cotton materials. For a fully cotton bag: 1-1/4m SF101 (from 152cm WOF) OR 4m SF101 (from 51cm WOF)
- 20mm D Ring - x2
- 20mm Swivel Clasp - x2 or x4 if you’re making both the Strap and the Handle
- 20mm Strap Slider - x1 (for Strap)
- 25mm Strap Slider - x1 (must be 25mm for Closure Strap)
- 38mm O Ring (optional decorative ring for Closure Strap)
- Magnetic Snap - x3, any size up to 19mm is acceptable
- #5 Zipper, 18cm x1, plus 1 zipper pull
- Rivets - x7 (8mm post length), AND x4 (10mm post length). 8mm or 9mm cap size is best
